Measurements are taken by an approved Alior partner or our atelier team. These descriptions help you know what to expect during your appointment.
A
Bust
Around the fullest part of the bust. Tape parallel to the floor, passing evenly across the back. Comfortable — not compressing.
B
Over bust
Around the upper chest, above the bust and under the arms. Horizontal and snug without restricting movement.
C
Under bust
Directly under the bust where the bra band sits. Level and firm, without tightening.
D
Waist
Around the natural waistline — the narrowest part of the torso. Stand relaxed; do not hold your stomach in.
E
Full hip
Around the fullest part of the hips and seat. Tape level and parallel to the floor throughout.
F
High hip
Around the hip area approximately 8–10 cm below the waistline. Tape horizontal.
G
Back width
Straight across the back from armhole to armhole at shoulder blade level. Tape straight, not curved.
H
Front width
Across the front from armhole to armhole, above the bust. Tape straight and not pulled tightly.
I
Single shoulder
From the base of the neck to the edge of one shoulder. Taken on one side only.
J
Bust apex
From one bust point to the other in a straight horizontal line.
K
Collar / neck
Around the base of the neck where a collar would naturally sit. Comfortable, not tight.
M
Back height
From the base of the neck (centre back) down the spine to the natural waistline.
Before your appointment: wear fitted undergarments appropriate for your dress style. All measurements except waist-to-floor are taken barefoot. Stand upright in a natural, relaxed posture with arms at your sides. Each point is measured twice to confirm accuracy.
